Dr. Tucker is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of EduCoach Ltd. She is an accomplished professional with 35+ years experience in education having served as a teacher, a curriculum coordinator, an elementary school principal, an assistant director for schools, an assistant director for curriculum and assessment and a director for fintech education.
Throughout her career, Dr. Tucker has remained steadfast in her belief that the quality of teaching is the key to ensuring all students fulfill their potential. In her quest to turnaround her then low performing inner-city elementary school, Dr. Tucker leveraged her strong instructional coaching skills to reform and transform the classroom learning experience for students. By serving as that trusted coach to help teachers feel comfortable trialling new instructional strategies, Dr. Tucker saw significant growth in the academic achievement and growth of her students.
Ultimately, however, it was Dr. Tucker’s cutting edge, out-of-the-box, transformative leadership that enabled her to build a team of school leaders who would buy into her laudable vision of her elementary school becoming a model for the world. Dr. Tucker asserts unequivocally that, for any school or organization to achieve its bottom-line, leadership matters. For this reason, she has created Leadership Edge. This dynamic one-of-a-kind leadership training and coaching program develops leaders who effectively turn around schools and who create and lead highly successful organizational spaces anywhere–including the corporate sector.
As a turn-around principal, Dr. Tucker recognized the important role of parents as key stakeholders in her students’ success. For this reason, she developed a series of parent workshops showing parents how to best support their children at home. The importance of positive parental involvement, coupled with the increase in parents desiring to educate their children at home, has inspired Dr. Tucker to offer HomeSmart Learning. This program is designed to provide parents with the kind of coaching and support that will enable them to maximize their child’s learning potential at home.
Dr. Tucker believes that successful education reform anywhere is contingent upon the ability and capacity of teachers to effectively deliver the curriculum and the capacity of school leaders to effectively lead schools. Like any practice, teachers and leaders need support implementing new strategies and leading organizations. Unfortunately, this help is not at their fingertips and is very costly for schools and systems when it is available.
Dr. Tucker is bringing her dream of ‘coaching for every teacher, leader, or parent,’ to reality through the creation of the EduCoach App. This app is a game changer as it establishes the first global network of instructional and leadership coaches thereby enabling teachers, leaders and parents worldwide to get the help and support they need, when they need it. EduCoach also enables schools and school systems to improve both school leadership and teacher performance that leads to increased student achievement in a way that is far more cost effective than the traditional, but needed, professional development. EduCoach supports professional development by ensuring teachers have the support needed to apply or use what was learned and that their leaders maximize the efforts of those in their stead.
In her spare time, Dr. Tucker enjoys cycling, swimming and running, watching movies, ‘coaching people she meets’ and spending time with friends and family.
